Do you like wine? Maybe it is time to learn more about this exciting beverage. Bazooka has developed VinVin, a result of the cooperation between Swedish food site AlltOmMat and the Newspaper Expressen.

The application is built on the same technical platform as Feber (http://feber.se), a Java application which makes use of Spring and Hibernate, and uses Mootools (http://mootools.net) for the JavaScript goodies.

Lately here at the office, everyone’s a comedian. But comedy is not our core business, so we leave it to the pros to make you laugh. That’s why we were happy to help out when internet TV channel Comedy TV asked us to help out with a redesign of their site.

The site has a great concept, bringing everyone everywhere not only the best of swedish stand-up comedy, but also interviews, podcasts and blogs featuring swedens top comedians. We all know laughter is the best medicine, so what else can you ask for, really?

As noted, while the comedians do what they do best, we here at Bazooka do what we do best: the site was given a fresh, new look and some usability touch-ups, giving the film clips a very central role. At the same time, the code behind it all was given an overhaul, which led to nice object-oriented PHP code on the server, and much more search-engine friendly HTML. All this while still keeping the site’s AJAX elements.

Unless you’ve already done so, we recommend that you immediately download the brand new iPhone application for Newsmill that we made! The application will give you a new way to browse the topics on Swedens #1 opinion site, and it will also let you make your voice heard by letting you “Mill” (swe. “Milla”) right from your iPhone.

Although all of us here like the quick overview that the list view of the application provides, it’s hard to resist playing around with the “bubble view”. Just pinch your way through the stack of bubbles!

Bazooka provided the technical implementation for this emotional campaign. Spraydate is the largest dating site in Sweden, with over 700,000 registered members. 2009 they celebrate 10 years in the match-making biz, and they invite everyone to celebrate with them.

The site features a contest to win a dream date and also allows visitors to send electronic postcards and “lovebombs” to friends and flirts. There is also a lovebombing widget that visitors can have on their blog. Both front and back-end programming was done by Bazooka.

To make sure the site will hold up for pressure the site is served up by the high-performance, open-source Java server Rupy.
